Hi James, for me, the other option has nothing to do with disrespecting anyone, but rather, not comprimising in any way which sends a wrong message and is exactly how Satan keeps getting his foot in the doors that have been swung wide open. Agreeing to disagree just isn't acceptable. Agreeing to just live and let live isn't acceptable. Any small gateway to comprimise isn't acceptable because year by year, and generation by generation, what was once unacceptable becomes the norm as more and more comprimise is promoted and accepted until God's Word is reduced to antiquated rules and regulations. Yes, we are all sinners, but this is all unacceptable because these people are hell bound as church leadership takes a back seat and goes silent to the sin which will devour them.
Chris, I agree with what you said...My question to the Christian leadership would be When did sin ever become negotiable? It hasn't. I can understand having a conversation to preach the gospel to them or anyone... but what they perceive as condemnation is really the truth they suppress and results in anger, malice etc. There is no intellectual ground to gain as the battle is not there.
